About Acoustic Shock

Acoustic Shock are; Stephen Ellis on guitar and vocals, Pete Johnson on bass, and Tim Day on drums. They play a ragged but tight rock variation rooted in the year 1973, but with many day trips out to the musical influences of their youth; imagine War Pig played by Echo and the Bunnymen.

Originally forming in 1982, Acoustic Shock gained a lot of local attention with reviews like "Enough energy to light up Birmingham for a week..." These days, with a minor lineup change in the rhythm section (the constantly wounded Tim Day taking the sticks for the last 4 years; Ellis & Johnson having been friends since the age of 7), Acoustic Shock attempt, and yes, succeed in adhering to their youthful principles of speed, noise and melody, thrown over a 3 chord-trick classic rock base; classic rock in terms of palette, of spice, rather than the grandiose posturing of the genre.

The band is currently promoting their debutt [SIC] album, Black Country Blues and are busying themselves up with regional and national gigs, while also working on new material for the follow up album, tentatively titled "Empty Calorie Rock and Roll".
